Research and Methodology

SAMHSA staff collect, analyze, and disseminate behavioral health data from multiple sources to support public health, policy, and decision-making. Data collection for public health is conducted through national surveys, surveillance systems, randomized control trials, field studies, public health assessments, and qualitative research. SAMHSA’s record management system ensures privacy of participants and institutions in national data collection efforts.
