Sequential Intercept Model Mapping

SAMHSA’s GAINS Center provides workshops for Sequential Intercept Model mappings to communities selected through a solicitation process. This workshop is centered on the Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) and walks communities through guided conversations regarding gaps in services and opportunities to better serve individuals with behavioral health disorders at each intercept point. Participants also develop an action plan to address major gaps emerging from the workshop.

Trauma Training for Criminal Justice Professionals

SAMHSA’s GAINS Center offers training that helps educate criminal justice professionals about the impact of trauma and how to develop trauma-informed responses. Communities of Practice (CoP)

States or local communities are selected via a competitive solicitation process to participate in intensive half-year long topical Communities of Practice. Topics of focus vary from year to year, with opportunities typically announced in late fall. CoPs are comprised of a combination of virtual and on-site technical assistance and consultation from subject matter experts to the participating State and local teams, which consist of behavioral health and criminal justice stakeholders, practitioners and decision-makers.

Virtual Learning Communities (VLC)

SAMHSA’s GAINS Center hosts VLCs, which consist of a series of webinars and virtual office hours on important topics related to improving the local justice system and better serving individuals with behavioral health disorders. The webinars and virtual office hours allow our audience to participate in a deep dive of a particular topic and have one-on-one conversations with experts to explore questions and ideas around practical application of the information at the local or state level.
