The Coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies:
Build the Coalition's prevention capacity through trainings on underage drinking, cultural competency, and environmental prevention; Decrease disparities through outreach to increase participation by the Latino community; Establish a Youth Coalition to provide input on planning, develop an informational video on underage alcohol use, and carry out project activities such as the Responsible Alcohol Merchants Award program to recognize compliant alcohol merchants; Raise community awareness of underage alcohol use through Town Hall meetings, enforcement of the social host ordinance, and an evidence-based prevention curriculum; and Work with other DFC Coalitions toward a countywide Social Host Ordinance.
