The Yapese Against Drugs and Alcohol coalition services the State of Yap, FM, a rural area with a population of 11,810.

The goals of the Coalition are: (1) establish and strengthen collaboration among Yapese Against Drugs and Alcohol's partner organizations in support of the community's effort to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth; and (2) reduce substance abuse among youth in the State of Yap, FM, and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the issues in our community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.

The Coalition will achieve its goals by implementing these strategies:
(1) Develop and implement a student-led social marketing campaign.
(2) Develop and implement a retail education program.
(3) Develop and implement an advertisement reduction program (Operation Storefront).
(4) Develop and implement a parent education program.
(5) Develop and implement a Yap High School Substance Free Mentor Program.

Palau's SPF-PFS project will use the five-step SPF process to develop and implement evidence-based strategies to prevent and reduce underage drinking among youth in Palau between 12-20 years of age by enhancing infrastructure, improving staff/community capacity, and building a "community partnership prevention delivery system" that converts prevention science into widespread community practice. The project will use a data-driven, strategic planning process to develop a wide range of strategies and practices to address underage drinking in Palau.
