SAMHSA announces grant funding opportunities through Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs). Each FOA contains all the information you need to apply for a grant.
IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION: SAMHSA’s application procedures have changed. All applicants must register with NIH’s eRA Commons in order to submit an application. This process takes up to six weeks. If you believe you are interested in applying for this opportunity, you MUST start the registration process immediately. Do not wait to start this process. If your organization is not registered and you do not have an active eRA Commons PI account by the deadline, the application will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.
Applicants also must register with the System for Award Management (SAM) and Grants.gov (see Appendix A for all registration requirements).
You should become familiar with all the components of the FOA before you apply. When you find an opportunity for which you would like to apply, be sure you meet all the eligibility requirements.
When you are searching for a funding opportunity on Grants.gov, use SAMHSA’s FOA number as the Funding Opportunity Number.

A new manual is available for applicants entitled “Developing a Competitive SAMHSA Grant Application.” This manual will provide applicants with valuable information about how to prepare a strong grant application. Four webinars have been scheduled to review the information in the manual.
