The National Board of Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program (NBCC MFP) will expand access to culturally and clinically appropriate care for underserved ethnic minority populations with mental health or substance abuse disorders. The NBCC MFP will accomplish this by providing training to diverse professional counselors on culturally competent treatment strategies. Fellows will provide leadership in research, practice and education to ethnic minority populations.

The Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) at the American Nurses Association (ANA) proposes to educate doctoral prepared mental health and substance abuse nurse professionals who will serve as leaders in the domains of practice, scientific discovery (research) education, and health policy in local, national and global communities. These nurses will be equipped to provide leadership in these selected domains for the improvement of health outcomes for ethnically diverse individuals, families, communities, across the lifespan, and at the public and private institutions. The cohort will be competent in health promotion, disease prevention, prompt and effective treatment, and recovery-based approaches for individuals and families.

The Council on Social Work Education's Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) will enhance the doctoral training of ethnic minority pre-doctoral social work students that demonstrate a commitment to working in underserved communities and working with underserved minority population post fellowship. CSWE's MFP provides stipends, specialized training, mentoring and other supports to underserved minority doctoral students. The purpose of this program is to increase the number of culturally competent behavioral health professionals in the public and private non-profit sectors trained to serve as direct clinicians, educators, administrators and to conduct services research.
