988 Lifeline Performance Metrics

The data below represents the 988 Lifeline performance of the overall national network, which includes data from all 988 Lifeline network centers. State-based monthly reports are available on 988lifeline.org.

The What Happens When You Contact 988? (JPG | 2 MB) graphic demonstrates the path a help seeker takes when they first contact 988. Help seekers make their service selection (Veterans Crisis Line, Spanish Language services, LGBTQI+ Youth & Young Adults services, or to be answered In-State/Territory). After a person selects, the contact is routed to the selected service and the average time to answer data point begins. If a help seeker is not answered in a set amount of time by an in-state/territory or LGBTQI+ contact center, the contact is rolled over to the National Backup to enable all help seekers to be answered.
