Secretaries Azar and DeVos to Attend Federal School Safety Commission Field Visit in Wisconsin

Tomorrow, Tuesday July 24, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and representatives from the Federal Commission on School Safety will travel to Adams-Friendship Middle School in Adams County, Wisconsin, for a field visit to learn how Adams-Friendship incorporates a statewide behavioral health framework into its operations.

Following a brief school tour, Wisconsin First Lady Tonette Walker and Commission members will provide opening remarks at a roundtable where they will hear from representatives of Wisconsin’s School Mental Health Initiative, school district officials, parents, students and community members. This is the second field visit during which the Commission will learn from practitioners throughout the country who are actively taking steps to improve school safety and build a positive school climate.

The Commission will host three different types of events in the coming weeks and months – Commission meetings, field visits and listening sessions. Dates, times and location information will be made available as events are scheduled.
