Providers Clinical Support System - Medications for Alcohol Use Disorders (PCSS-MAUD)

The Providers Clinical Support System - Medications for Alcohol Use Disorders (PCSS-MAUD) is a SAMHSA funded national training, guidance, and clinical mentoring program that provides free training, guidance, and mentoring on the prevention, diagnoses, and treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD).

PCSS-MAUD aims to enhance the capacity of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, substance use disorder (SUD) counseling professionals to identify and treat individuals using Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medications for alcohol use disorder (MAUD).

Online Modules and Training

Motivational Interviewing for Alcohol Use Disorder Treatment
Learn how to use Motivational Interviewing (MI) strategies as a guided approach to clinical interactions and fostering behavior change in patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD). This self-paced, on-demand module will address how using MI strategies can help identify and change risky behaviors associated with alcohol use.

Assessment and Management of Alcohol Withdrawal
Gain an in-depth understanding of how to assess, manage, and treat Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome (AWS) in outpatient and hospital-based settings in this case-based, interactive module. Emphasizing individualized care plans, this 1.5-hour module covers the neurobiology of AWS and provides strategies for effective patient support through the withdrawal process.

Mini Video Series
PCSS-MAUD created a Mini Video Series on the three FDA-approved medications for alcohol use disorder (MAUD). Healthcare practitioners can view the three videos on acamprosate, disulfiram, and naltrexone to learn about each of the medications and the benefits to using them when treating patients with AUD.
