    Engaging Service Members, Veterans, and Families: A Toolkit for CCBHCs

    SAMHSA released a toolkit designed to help Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) identify service members, veterans, and their families (SMVF) receiving services, understand military/veteran experiences, and apply this knowledge while providing mental health and substance use services under the CCBHC model of care.

  • 2025 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report 

    The Department of Veteran Affairs released their 2025 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report. The VA conducts the largest national analysis of Veteran suicide rates each year. Findings are made available to the public in an Annual Report.

    U.S Department of Health and Human Services: 2024 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention

    The 2024 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention is a bold new 10-year, comprehensive, whole-of-society approach to suicide prevention that provides concrete recommendations for addressing gaps in the suicide prevention field. This coordinated and comprehensive approach to suicide prevention at the national, state, tribal, local, and territorial levels relies upon critical partnerships across the public and private sectors.

    The Federal Action Plan identifies more than 200 actions across the federal government to be taken over the next three years in support of those goals.

    Crisis Intercept Mapping for Community-Based Suicide Prevention: An Assessment of the Crisis Infrastructure and Future Considerations for 988

    In this study they analyzed information collected from 2020 to 2022 Crisis Intercept Mapping (CIM) technical assistance workshops conducted with communities across the country. They found that training and implementation of suicide risk screening, safety planning, lethal means safety, and follow-up were limited and inconsistent among communities. Read the full article

    Veteran Sequential Intercept Model (V-SIM)

    The National Institute of Corrections worked collaboratively with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to develop toolkits that correspond with V-SIM which relates to supporting justice involved Veterans.
