SAMHSA’s 2018 Voice Awards event recognized television and film writers and producers along with community leaders for outstanding efforts to raise awareness and understanding of mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders. The 13th annual Voice Awards spotlighted efforts to educate the public about behavioral health and showcase that recovery is real and possible through treatment and recovery supports. This event was held on August 8, 2018, at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles.
The 2018 Voice Awards event was hosted by Rick and Kay Warren, who emerged as a voice for people in need and have devoted their lives to advocating for suicide prevention and for people living with mental illness after the suicide of their youngest son in 2013, in addition to their work on behalf of orphaned and vulnerable children and those living with HIV and AIDS.
